  3. Select 'Balance' or 'Check Balance'.
  4. Enter your PIN.
  5. The balance shows.

Via the MTN MoMo app (alternative)

The MTN MoMo app shows your balance right on the home screen — no menu needed. Useful when you want to see the balance without breaking a PIN entry flow. The app uses data or WiFi (no USSD), so it also works abroad on roaming.

Frequently asked questions

How do I check my MTN MoMo balance in Ghana?
Dial *170# → My Wallet (option 6) → Balance (option 1). Enter your MoMo PIN. The balance shows in seconds. Free and you can do it as often as you like per day.
How do I check my Telecel Cash balance?
Dial *110# on your Telecel number. The Telecel Cash menu opens — select Balance. Enter your PIN. Free, instant, no agent.
And for AirtelTigo Money?
Same *110# as Telecel — the network of the SIM determines which wallet opens. Dial *110# on your AT number, select Balance, enter the PIN.
How much does a balance check cost?
Zero. Balance check is free on all three Ghanaian networks. No operator fee, no tax (the e-levy was repealed in April 2025). You can check 50 times a day if you want.
Why does my balance show '0' when I have been credited?
Three common causes. (1) The transfer has not yet landed — wait 2-3 minutes for cross-network. (2) The SIM you are using is not the one hosting the wallet (a wallet is tied to ONE number). (3) You have multiple MTN wallets (main MoMo, MoKash, MoMoPay merchant) — check each via the menu.
Can I check someone else's balance?
No. You can only check the balance of the wallet hosted on YOUR number. To confirm a credit sent to a third party, they must check their own balance — or look at the MTN/Telecel/AT SMS confirmation that arrives automatically on receipt.
