MTN MoMo — step-by-step

  1. On the MTN phone where your wallet is registered, dial *165#.
  2. Press call/send.
  3. At the menu, select My Account (often option 6).
  4. Select Balance.
  5. Enter your 4-digit MoMo PIN.
  6. Balance displays in UGX, plus MoKash and MoSente balances if you have them.

Airtel Money — the fast method

  1. On the Airtel phone where your wallet is registered, dial *185*10#.
  2. Press call/send.
  3. Enter your 4-digit Airtel Money PIN.
  4. Balance displays immediately.

*185*10# is a deep path that skips the main menu — the fastest method at Airtel.

Wave Uganda — via the app

Wave Uganda does not offer a full USSD menu — balance check goes through the Wave mobile app. Download the app from the App Store or Google Play, log in with your UG number and PIN. The balance shows on the home screen.

Three common causes. (1) The transfer has not yet landed — wait 2-3 minutes for cross-network. (2) The SIM you are using is not the one hosting the wallet (a wallet is tied to ONE MTN number). (3) The balance shows your wallet, but the credit landed in another wallet (MoKash, MoSente). Check via My Account → All Wallets.
Can I check someone else's balance?
No. You can only check the balance of the wallet hosted on YOUR phone number. To confirm a credit sent to a third party, they must check their MTN/Airtel SMS confirmation, which arrives automatically on receipt.
