It settles a transfer between any two Namibian banks within seconds, 24/7. The four big banks (FNB, Standard Bank, Bank Windhoek, Nedbank) are connected, along with Atlantico (BIC) and Letshego.

EFT vs NamPay — what's the difference

  • EFT (Electronic Funds Transfer)batch settlement (1 to 2 business days), modest fee typically N$5-N$15 depending on the bank.
  • NamPayinstant settlement, fee typically N$10-N$25 depending on the bank. Funds visible at the recipient within the minute.
  • For urgencies (last-minute rent, deadline bills), NamPay justifies the extra. For a planned monthly salary, EFT does the job.

When a bank transfer beats eWallet

eWallet caps at N$5,000/day. Beyond that you must split into several sends (paying the flat fee each time) OR do an EFT/NamPay bank transfer if the recipient has an account. For an N$8,000 monthly rent, one NamPay (~N$15) beats two eWallets (N$20). For N$15,000 rent, an EFT beats three split eWallets.
