Namibia ATM withdrawal fees: eWallet, card, off-network

ATM fees in Namibia split into three scenarios: cardless eWallet draw (per wallet), card draw at your own bank's ATM (often free), card draw off-network (Saswitch). The numbers below come from the BoN 2025/2026 report.

Verified June 2026.Fees confirmed against operator pricing guides and the Bank of Namibia Banking Fees and Charges Report 2025/2026. There is no state mobile-money tax in Namibia.

Cardless eWallet withdrawal

The typical scenario: the eWallet recipient enters their cellphone number and PIN at the ATM. Fees: N$14 (FNB), N$10.50 (Bank Windhoek), N$0 (Standard Bank at its own ATMs). No plastic card required.

Card withdrawal at your own bank's ATM

If you bank with the same institution as the ATM you use, the card withdrawal is generally free or modest (~N$3-N$6 across most Namibian banks per the BoN report). Check your statement: some 'gold' account packages include a free monthly quota, others charge from the first transaction.

Off-network card withdrawal (Saswitch)

When you use bank A's card at bank B's ATM, you pay an off-network fee ('Saswitch fee') of about N$10-N$15 depending on the bank, ON TOP of the usual withdrawal fee. It's the most expensive scenario — avoid it when you can route to your own bank's ATM.

Frequently asked questions

Does cardless eWallet withdrawal cost more than with a card?
Not necessarily. At your own bank's ATM, card withdrawal is ~N$3-N$6; eWallet withdrawal is N$14 (FNB), N$10.50 (Bank Windhoek) or N$0 (Standard Bank). If you bank with the ATM owner, the card is cheaper. eWallet is for when you have no card or no account.
What is Saswitch?
Saswitch is Namibia's interbank switch that lets you use bank A's card at bank B's ATM. It's what enables off-network withdrawals, charging an extra fee (~N$10-N$15).
