Re-verified 3 July 2026: the 0.75% MoMo-to-bank fee (cap GH₵5) that MTN announced on 25 May 2026 for a 1 June start is SUSPENDED and never took effect — the Bank of Ghana directed Mobile Money Fintech Ltd to pause it on 26 May 2026, pending stakeholder consultation. It has not been reinstated and no consultation outcome has been published. So as of now, wallet-to-bank is not subject to the 0.75% fee.
Worked example: Moving GH₵500 from your MoMo wallet to a linked bank account costs GH₵0 today. Had the 0.75% fee gone live it would have cost GH₵3.75 (0.75% of GH₵500, under the GH₵5 cap) — but the Bank of Ghana suspended it.

MTN MoMo channels: app, USSD and agent
You can manage MTN MoMo in three ways. By USSD, dial *170# to open the menu (balance, send, cash-out, PIN change) — no internet needed, so it works on any phone. Through the MTN MoMo app, you get the same operations in a graphical interface. And at an authorised agent, you deposit or withdraw cash. Fees are identical on every channel: the operator's schedule applies, not a per-channel surcharge.
The cash-out consolidation tip
MTN MoMo cash-out is free under GH₵50, about 1% after, then capped at a flat GH₵20 above GH₵2,000. Because that cap never moves, withdrawing GH₵5,000 costs the same GH₵20 as GH₵2,001, and so does GH₵10,000. If you must take out a large sum, one big withdrawal above GH₵2,000 beats several small ones.
Sending to another network
Thanks to national interoperability, you can send from MTN MoMo to MTN MoMo, Telecel Cash or AT Money with just the recipient's number. The cross-network send fee closely tracks the same-network schedule, especially above GH₵1,000, and the recipient always receives for free.
Compare, agents and popular amounts
All three Ghanaian operators use a near-identical cash-out schedule, so the choice comes down to agent density and your recipient's network. Important: an agent should never charge cash on top of the fee deducted from your wallet — any surcharge is prohibited. Agent charges →
